Car Hire on Kefalonia, Greece

Driving Licence Requirements:

• If you do not hold a valid driving license valid for at least 1 year issued by an EU (European Union) or EEA (European Economic Area) country, United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Australia and Gibraltar you will be required to hold an International Driving Permit (IDP). This is typically straightforward to arrange—contact the authority that issued your licence to request the relevant application form.

Driver's age:

• Minimum 21 to 75 years for group A and B and minimum 23 years for all other groups. Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to hire a car.

*Insurance coverage and security deposit:

• Price includes unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability, Breakdown Assistance, and VAT.
• A refundable security deposit is required at the time of vehicle collection. The deposit must be secured using a Visa or Mastercard credit card (not debit or prepaid). The deposit serves as a guarantee against any damage to or theft of the vehicle and will be automatically released after the rental period, provided the vehicle is returned without damage or loss.
• Theft Protection covers the vehicle itself but does not include personal belongings left inside.

Fuel policy:

• The vehicle will be provided with at least 1⁄4 of the tank, the fuel is payable by the renter who is obligated to return it with the same amount as indicated and checked during pick up of the vehicle. Otherwise, the driver will be charged the amount of the used fuel plus €12 +VAT as a flat fee.

Add ons:

Optional add-ons are not included in the rental price and must be paid locally to the supplier. Current charges are:

• Child Seat/Booster – €7/day (maximum €140);
• GPS – €7.44/day (maximum €74.40);
• Additional Driver – €3/day + VAT.

Responsibility and Disputes:

• The Thinking Traveller acts as an introducer to car hire companies and cannot mediate or negotiate on your behalf in the event of any damages occurring during the rental.
